Greetings...
My name is George Louis Gregory and I am known on the web as BountifulKnight. I am a computer programmer and graphic artist by trade. Yes, I know that seems to be a unique combination, but it is one of the mixed blessings of being born "whole brained" as some put it. Anyone can learn to be more whole brained than they are, but only a small percentage of people are born using both sides of the brain in concert naturally. I am one of those rare few. I think both artistically and analytically all the time. If you are an employer who is seeking that unique combination of skills, feel free to review my resume.
So where did the name BountifulKnight come from? The literal meaning of my full name would most accurately be "Fruitful, Glorious Warrior who is Vigilant." When I began to consider creating an online presence, I ran through dozens of ideas until I finally came up with BountifulKnight. It embodies my desire to be fruitful in life (to benefit and help grow) along with the idea of a good and benevolent knight. And of course, every good knight is vigilant. The knight also happens to be my favorite chess piece.
Concerning Knights
I am keenly aware that the actual knights of ancient history were not always honorable, but I am more inclined to legend and folklore than I am real history. My mental picture of a knight is rooted in the idea of a holy defender with a strict code of honor. Such a knight, honor bound by an oath to God, defends the good and fights against evil. Unlike the real and often vile knights of the crusades, I firmly believe that God has granted each soul the right of choice and I uphold and defend that right. Back then, they said "Believe or die!," but I say "Believe and gain a far better life, but if you wish, you may reject Jesus, live by your own terms and in the end it will be up to God to judge you, not me."
That which is most important to me
The primary foundation of my life rests in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. I do not claim perfection in any form, but only declare that I am a sinner saved by grace through faith in Christ. I am still a sinner, just one who's penalty has been paid by Christ. That salvation is available to you as well. I welcome any genuine inquiries concerning my faith, but the purpose of this website is to share my artwork and market my 3-D products, not to use this space as a pulpit. That said, I make no appologies for spiritual content in many of my artistic works.
A little background
I started in 3-D art way back in 7th grade programming a wireframe cross (in perspective) on a Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer II. Even then, I knew the infinite capabilities these computers would some day have. I knew back then that if I could set each pixil on the screen to the exact colors I wanted, that someday software could create images that seemed to be photographs from geometric data. My foresight was reailized just within the last few years with such films and "Star Wars Episodes I, II & III" and "The Lord of the Rings" along with many others. In comparison, the software I work with and the images I create are pale, but they give me a wonderful outlet for my artist's soul and I use them to the best of my ability to explore and express my artistic ideas.
From my heart
What I most would want you to remember about me is this: At the age of five, I found an emptiness in my soul and came to the understanding within myself that the only thing that could fill it was (and is) Jesus. I accepted Jesus as Savior and since that day have never been empty agian. I have had some extremely rough times in life, but God has sustained me with His peace and love through it all.
There is a verse in a song by a group called "Silverwind" that is based on a quote from the journal of missionary, Jim Elliot (based on scripture). He and four other missionaries were killed by the Auca Indians with whom they were trying to share the Gospel. After he was killed, his wife stayed and with other believers continued to reach out to the Auca Indians Eventually they were able to share the love of Christ with the very people who took her husband's life. You can read the whole story in the Book "Through Gates of Splendor" available at Amazon.com. The verse goes like this (as best I can remember):
"He is no fool who gives what he can't keep
to keep what he cannot lose.
He is no fool who wants to have Jesus
and everything else refuse.
He is no fool who lives by the Gospel
in keeping the Master's rules,
but if Love is insane and Faith is so foolish,
then let me be called a fool!"
